1. Checking your phone when you wake up
GUILTY! This is a habit I am trying to break. I feel that on mornings when I wake up, get my coffee, and find something positive to start with that I have a better day.
For example; Read a chapter in my book, go outside with my pets, or even a little writing in my journal. Then tell yourself “Today will be a good day”! I feel that doing one of these actions before scrolling through my phone always puts me in the right mindset.
2. Not believing in yourself
Stop telling yourself you can’t or putting yourself down. That will get you nowhere. Because you CAN do this. All you have to do is say “I can do this”. Having this mindset is a game changer. Try it out!
3. Trying to change things our of your control
This is one I’ve worked on myself for a while but it’s getting easier by the day. You can only change what YOU have control of. It can be exhausting always trying to change situations you cannot. I have found it less stressful to accept the fact that some things I can’t change.
4. Comparing yourself
Honestly I do this more than I’d like to admit. It is so toxic for anyone to compare themselves to someone else. This steals our peace, and affects our confidence. Do NOT compare. Be proud of yourself and who you are. I only compare myself to who I was last week, last month, last year.
5. Not letting go of the past
For myself, letting go of something from the past is HARD. I have learned that the past happened for a reason and you are where you are today because of it. If you can’t let go of the past, it affects your present, your future.
6. Not forgiving yourself
Honestly, if you do not forgive yourself then it really tears you down. I have learned I have to forgive myself in order to find the happiness I need. Forgive yourself and it can help with your mental health as well.
7. Not drinking water
FINALLY! Something I have almost mastered! I am bad about drinking coffee all day. It’s what keeps me going, right? Wrong! I have started to drink a gallon a day and it has done so much good for myself & my body! I have energy, I’m hydrated, and I feel good. DRINK WATER!
8. Keeping toxic people in your life
Cutting people out of your life can be hard. Whether you’ve known them 10 years or 10 days. It is NOT selfish. Put yourself first. Get rid of the toxic people and you will feel a weight lifted off your shoulders.
